Shop Marcus Petitt is a native of Seattle, Washington and a recent graduate from the University of Southern California’s (USC) renowned Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles, California.

Shop Marcus Petitt began to show a unique interest in music at a very early age which came as no surprise considering his family’s longtime involvement with music. Most of Marcus’ early music training came by way of his home church – Mount Zion Baptist Church (Seattle, WA) where he began singing in the Children’s choir at the age of three.

Since then, Shop Marcus Petitt has had an illustrious music career. As a soloist, he has performed for many non-profit organizations including the Downtown Seattle Rotary, Boeing Black Employees Association, Tuskegee Airmen Association, Junior Achievement, Morehouse Glee Club and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences – the organization that is responsible for organizing the Grammy’s. He has had the honor of performing before international leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Desmond TuTu. Marcus has had the opportunity to perform before nationally-acclaimed award-winning artists such as George Duke, Anthony Hamilton, LeAndria Johnson, and Quincy Jones. In addition, he has the opportunity to share the stage with many local and regional artists in Seattle and Los Angeles alike.

Shop Marcus Petitt has had the distinct pleasure of performing before audiences at Seattle’s premier venues: Benaroya Hall, Triple Door, McCaw Hall, Broadway Performance Hall, Intiman Theatre, Moore Theatre, and the Paramount Theatre. Shop Marcus Petitt began singing for professional sports teams in the Seattle area while still in elementary school. Over the years, Marcus has been invited to perform the national anthem as a soloist for the late Seattle Sonics, the Seattle Storm, the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners.

Shop Marcus Petitt is also a music director, composer and arranger. While in high school, he formed two music groups in Seattle including, CommonTone – a vocal jazz quartet – and JAM – an instrumental jazz and gospel quartet, while maintaining his status as a solo artist in Seattle. He wrote his first original composition at the age of ten and has written and arranged many songs since then. During his undergraduate years at USC, Marcus began collaborating with other students to compose music, working as an assistant musical director for several school-sponsored events including an interactive showcase entitled Visions & Voices: “From Bebop to Doo-Wop to Hip Hop” and began serving as the head director of the USC Saved By Grace Gospel Choir for three and a half years – during which he coordinated rehearsals, co-founded the first-ever Gospel Music Workshop, and arranged two classic hymns for the choir’s debut release on iTunes and Amazon.

Marcus currently serves as a co-director for the Brighter Day Junior Choir at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Los Angeles, the Music Director and Liturgy Coordinator for St. Sebastian School in Los Angeles, and is the founding worship leader for Marcus Petitt & Eclectic Praise – a new Praise & worship ensemble based in Los Angeles.

Marcus is thankful for the many gifts of music that God has entrusted to him! He is also grateful for his family, friends, and fans that have supported him in his music career thus far and is excited for the journey that lies ahead.
